The journey usually begins from Haridwar, Rishikesh, or Dehradun, followed by a scenic drive to Barkot. Surrounded by lush green valleys and majestic mountains, Barkot serves as the base for the Yamunotri Yatra.
From Barkot, travelers proceed to Janki Chatti, the starting point of the trek to Yamunotri. The 6 km trek offers mesmerizing views of rivers, forests, and mountains. Pilgrims visit the Yamunotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, and take a holy dip in the natural hot water springs at Surya Kund before offering prayers.

Haridwar → Barkot (Drive: 180 km / 7–8 hrs)
Early morning pickup from Haridwar
Drive through Dehradun, Mussoorie, Kempty Falls
Reach Barkot by evening, gateway to Yamunotri
Check-in at hotel / camp and rest
Overnight Stay: Barkot
Day 2
Barkot → Yamunotri → Barkot (Drive: 36 km + 6 km trek one way)
Day 3
Barkot → Uttarkashi (Drive: 100 km / 4–5 hrs)
Day 4
Uttarkashi → Gangotri → Uttarkashi (Drive: 100 km one way / 3–4 hrs)
Day 5
Uttarkashi → Haridwar (Drive: 200 km / 8–9 hrs)
